BERTHA ADRIANA MAGAÑA
Bertha is a fearless advocate for her clients. Born in Mexico, she was brought to this country at a young age and learned first-hand the struggles faced by immigrants. Her family’s experience working in California’s Napa Valley helped her realize that immigrants are the back-bone which have made this country thrive.
Bertha excelled academically, graduated with honors from UCLA, and obtained her law degree from UC Berkeley School of Law. She has a deep commitment to working with marginalized communities.
Bertha previously worked for the Public Defender’s Office of Alameda County, and later at the California Appellate Project defending prisoners on California’s Death Row. While at the California Appellate Project, she built professional relationships with both the Mexican and Honduran Consulates, as well as other professionals from El Salvador to better serve her clients from those countries. She has extensive experience working with individuals who have endured significant trauma in their lives, and is a very compassionate listener.
Her professional and life experiences have empowered her to be a resourceful, tenacious, and dedicated attorney for her clients.
Bertha is a native Spanish-speaker. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2008. In her free time, Bertha enjoys spending time with her family, sewing, and making LEGO creations with her daughter.
